Thank you FOX 26 Houston for shining a spotlight on the more silent dangers our firefighters face in this career field. ❤️‍🩹Due to the nature of the job, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) says firefighters have a higher risk of being diagnosed with cancer. The National Firefighter Registry (NFR) for Cancer is working to better understand the link between firefighting and cancer and is asking firefighters past and present to join the NFR. 🚨 Booster 1 is currently deployed, as part of TIFMAS Strike Team 126. Crews are providing mutual aid assistance all over the state, quite literally, as they’ve traveled between the panhandle, south texas, and everywhere in between.

January 22nd-31st, members of our All-Hazards Team assisted our neighbors to the north, where Mother Nature hit a little harder with the ice/snow than she did here at home.

🥎 This weekend, members had the pleasure of competing in the Waller-Harris Softball Tournament, in Prairie View, against local departments (🚒🚓🚑). While it may not have ended with a win for Local 5498, it was still an absolute blast for all. After our elimination, several of our members joined Northeast Fort Bend County Fire Department’s team, where they are employed part-time, and they continued playing for most of the day, ending in🥉place—showing what it truly means to have each other’s backs, on and off the field. 💪🏻

🏆Huge congratulations to Willowfork Fire Department/Fort Bend County ESD 2, whom went undefeated against all 8 teams, taking home the win!!!
